Racing UK signs sponsorship deal with world-famous female jockey Hayley Turner
Specialist horseracing broadcaster Racing UK has signed a two-year sponsorship deal with one of the world’s most successful female Flat jockeys Hayley Turner.
Racing UK broadcasts horseracing from 30 of the leading British racecourses and is shown on Sky 432 (UK, NI, ROI), Virgin Media 536 (UK) or UPC 411 (ROI). The channel currently numbers more than 45,000 subscriptions.
Twenty-eight-year-old Turner is one of the most recognizable faces in the horseracing world after she became the first female jockey to ride 100 UK winners in a calendar year in 2008. Soon after, she was voted Channel 4's Racing Personality of the Year.
The former champion apprentice has ridden numerous Group winners and is on course to beat her best total for a calendar year with 32 winners already on the board.
The agreement will see Turner in Racing UK branding, as well as making regular appearances on the Racing UK TV channel and racinguk.com.
She will also be the focus of a digital campaign that will encompass regular video diaries and written blogs, and Turner will join Ruby Walsh and Aidan Coleman (Jumps) and Tom Queally (Flat) as one of four jockey ambassadors for Racing UK.
Turner said: “I am delighted to be joining Racing UK and linking up with a racing partner who supports and invests in the industry. I am keen to repeat my achievement of breaking a century of winners a couple of seasons ago, and looking forward to working with Racing UK in furthering my profile.”
Racing UK’s Marketing Director Clive Cottrell added: “Hayley has broken new ground in what has been a traditionally male sport, evidenced by some of the biggest trainers in the country counting on her services, including Michael Bell, James Fanshawe, David Elsworth and Jeremy Noseda. She has raised awareness of the sport beyond the racing pages and looks to be an ideal fit for Racing UK.”
